Bringing a fresh look to residential real estate sets Dennis apart. Prior to coming to Grand Rapids, Dennis was a project designer for Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill; a leading international architectural firm. While at SOM, Dennis worked on a variety of educational facilities and corporate offices including a large headquarters complex for a manufacturing company in Bristol, England.
The chance to work for Herman Miller brought Dennis to Grand Rapids. During his many years at Herman Miller, he held a variety of increasingly responsible positions in design and marketing and traveled extensively in Europe and the Asia Pacific region, working with designers and customers to develop new products and new markets. Along the way, Dennis earned his Master of Management degree from Aquinas College.
Later, Dennis started his own company and operated a retail store, ReThink Good Things, on East Paris Avenue. The store featured home and garden furnishings and accessories as well as personal care products and gift food items. The products were focused on the environment and sustainability and featured many items made in Michigan.
He is now focusing his lifelong interest in design and construction on residential real estate. He is an accomplished marketing professional, a knowledgeable resource in design and construction, and a passionate advocate for sustainable design and construction practices. He is also experienced in universal design and aging in place.
Dennis lives in East Grand Rapids with his wife, Barb Jourdan, a successful human resource and management consultant. Their son, Greg, is a student at Michigan State University. In their spare time, they love traveling, gardening, volunteering, and gourmet cooking. They also continue to restore and renovate their 80-year old English Tudor-style home which is furnished with an eclectic mix of mid-20th century modern and antique furniture, as well as a collection of art and accessories that they have collected during their international travels.
